The Emergency Food and Shelter Program was established in 1983. It is used in an effort to help people with economic (not disaster related) emergencies. The supplemental funding is used to help hungry and homeless people. The National Board has selected the United Way of America as the Secretariat and fiscal agent to perform the necessary administrative duties of the Board.
